Technologies

These are the three thermalspray technologies that we use:

Air Plasma Spray
The Plasma thermalspray system uses the very high thermal energy of the plasma, where temperature is about 36000°F, for melting the powders and after that spraying those powders on the base material that needs to be coated.
Even if temperature is very high, the APS is a cold process, because the base material doesn't reach a temperature that can transform is micro-structure.
So the part can have a very good anti-wear property without changing or modifying its dimensions and mechanic resistance.

Flame Spray
It was the first system for thermalspray to be invented and so is the most simple and economical.
Thermal energy is provided by oxy-acetylenic flame. The powders are put inside the flame and they're sprayed with compressed air on the part's surface.
Flame spray is a hot process because the metal substrate needs to be heated before spraying.
Other characteristics:
Possibility to remelt the powders after spraying, in order to obtain a new micro-structure with a very high adhesion strength
Possibility to perform a thermal treatment of hardening just after the powder remelt in order to save money for the thermal treatment and to have a smaller cost of the part.

Arc Spray
In this process the feeding material to be sprayed is composed by a couple of metallic wire instead of powders.
The electric arc provides the fusion inside the gun of the two wires and after that the melted particles are sprayed by compressed air onto the substrate.
The thermal energy that involves the metallic substrate is low, so also Arc Spray is considered a cold process.
This technology has a good deposition rate which makes it the right choice for bigger parts.
