Oxycrometech is essentially chromium oxide, which also metallic
chrome is derived from, is a new protective coating with outstanding qualities against
wear, grip, abrasion and corrosion with a very high value of hardness from 1200
HV to 1400 HV.
It can be applied over every kind of steel, aluminium and other alloys and has a
range of temperature from -148°F to 1110°F (-100 to 600°C) Coating thickness goes
from 0.004 to 0.015 inches.
Its high value of hardness, higher than Hard Chrome, gives better resistance and
after grinding the surface can have a value of 0.4 Ra, suitable for some applications
of permeability where the porosity needs to be under 2%.
The requirement to increase the performances of single components subjected to wear
is necessary to reach a high protection level and to create a custom-made coating
which can increase the life of the component and cut-off the service time.
Before production, this protective coating was tested in TWR's laboratory for at
least 12 months.
It can be successively sealed with some polymers, obtaining very good grip properties
for the movement of delicate products.
Oxycrometech has a very high adhesive strength obtained by a bond coating, which
also provides better corrosion resistance and makes the coating resist to higher
loads reducing the risk of cracks formation.
This type of coating has recently became very suitable for machine and tools in
contact with food, because is in accord with the Italian law D.M. 21/03/1973 certified
toxic metals free.
